BEI employs personnel certified in Mold Remediation by the America Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) and Duct Cleaning by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA).

Mold has quickly become a massive indoor air quality issue worldwide.  Mold troubles have increased with construction techniques that make structures tighter.  Over the past 30 years, there has been a significant boost in indoor mold growth and the resultant health issues.

Mold is a natural occurring spore that is transported via air currents or attached to something as simple as your clothing or pets.

Mold needs three basic conditions to flourish:

  1. Food.  Sources include organic matter such as: wood, paper, paint, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric, plant soil, and dust.  Mold also can grow on the surface of non organic matter such as concrete that is covered with a layer of organic matter.
  2. Moisture.  The key biological need of mold is water.  Mold may obtain water from standing water sources, waterlogged materials, or damp surfaces.
  3. Temperature.  The requisite range is between 40 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  The growth of most molds is inhibited only by extreme temperatures.  Some molds, however, can grow even in extremely high or low temperatures.

The three most common indoor molds are:

  1. Aspergillus
    • Aspergillus parasiticus - commonly found in flower pots and water damaged carpets.
    • Aspergillus flavus - grows and thrives in hot and humid climates, and attacks grains, seeds, and legumes.
  2. Penicillium is found in carpet, wallpaper, and behind paint and interior fiberglass duct insulation.
  3. Stachybotrys grows well on materials high in cellulose and low in nitrogen.  This includes leaves, straw, carpet, wallpaper, thermal insulation, fiberboard, drywall, paper, dust, and hay.  It is not found on materials such as plastic, vinyl, or ceramic tiles.

When interior building materials become infested with mold growth, BEI’s workforce can provide a total remediation process.  This includes the discovery and complete removal of the contaminated building materials and the subsequent restoration.  BEI has the experience to perform this work safely, quickly, and thoroughly often with minimal inconvenience and disruption to the occupants.

BEI employs personnel certified in Mold Remediation by the America Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) and Duct Cleaning by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA).

Not all microbial forms are solid masses, some are airborne mold spore particles that travel through a contained site or building through air ducts — causing an effect named “sick building syndrome”.  Our staff is trained and certified to abate the existing conditions that are compromising your indoor air quality.  BEI’s personnel will safely decontaminate the HVAC systems and take the necessary steps to inhibit recurring mold growth.

Our clients rely upon and refer BEI to others because we provide a sound, positive situation, leveraging our 25 years of experience. Beyond our environmental services, our clients have peace of mind and confidence because we listen, respond, and cater to their particular situation, project needs, and special requests.  BEI works seamlessly with client-selected consulting engineers, construction managers, or other appointed representatives.
